Anthony D. Jewett
Co-Founder and Chairman
Anthony founded NC4GE’s Bardoli Global Scholars Program in 2005 to provide global leadership and professional development opportunities for outstanding African American, Latino, and Native American youth through study abroad and service learning. From 2003-2005, Anthony served as a bilingual elementary school teacher in New York City with Teach for America. He has studied and worked abroad on a variety of assignments in South America, West Africa, China, and the Middle East. He is a 2006 Echoing Green Fellow, a 2011 Tides Fellow and a member of the editorial advisory board of International Educator magazine. Anthony earned a B.A. in International Studies from Morehouse College in 2003 where his passion for study abroad and community service earned him both the Freeman-Asia and Benjamin Gilman awards from the Institute of International Education. Anthony is currently a doctoral candidate in education leadership at Harvard University.
Ellison X. Weeks
Director of Programs
Ellison Weeks brings nearly a decade of experience in international and cross-cultural education, higher education administration, social work and family advocacy in the private and nonprofit sectors. A first-generation college graduate, Ellison received his B.A. in Communication Studies with distinction from California State University, Northridge (CSUN) where he also obtained a minor in Japanese and pursued studies in Spanish language and literature. While at CSUN, Ellison developed a series of foreign language and cultural immersion programs for disadvantaged high school students and was awarded a study abroad scholarship at Tokiwa University in Ibaraki, Japan. Upon graduation, Ellison participated in the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme and served two years as an English teacher and citizen ambassador in several rural communities in southwestern Japan. After JET, Ellison joined the Child and Family Guidance Center and provided social services, independent living skills and comprehensive college advising to low-income students from a broad range of academic, cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Ellison holds an Ed.M. in higher education administration from Harvard University, with a focus on equity and access to post secondary education in the United States and international contexts.
